Gary entered the CBB house on Monday night

The royals and Middleton family were said to be terrified when The Sun revealed in January that he was in the reboot of the reality show.

But the doting uncle has insisted he wouldn’t bring any more “stress” to his loved ones during an already tough time.

And in a video tape which aired before he stepped foot in the gaff, Gary had nothing but nice things to say about Kate – who is still recovering from abdominal surgery.

He also revealed the first time he met “normal” Prince William.

Goldsmith said: “[Kate] is simply perfect.

“First time I met William, Catherine was cooking and William said, ‘Hi, do you want a cup of tea?’ Very normal.”

As he pulled up in a flash CBB car on Monday night, he waved excitedly to viewers as he donned a white turtle neck, white blazer and black trousers.

Once he got up to the steps, Gary said the family would probably be watching from “behind a sofa”.

Presenter AJ Odudu asked him: “The nation needs to know, will Kate be watching?”

Gary said: “If she is it will be behind a sofa, I guess.”

AJ asked which sofa and Gary replied: “It will be a nice one, in a nice house.”

Gary also joked “winding people up is probably my favourite hobby” as he entered the house.

Kate was seen for the first time since her hospital operation on Monday.

The Princess of Wales was in the passenger seat as mum Carole, 69, drove her in an Audi near Windsor Castle on Monday.

She was wearing sunglasses and appeared to be smiling slightly in her first sighting since her procedure.

Despite concerns over him entering the house, Gary insists he hates the stress that’s already been placed on his family, in particular his sister and Kate – and won’t be adding to it.

Gary exclusively told The Sun: “I’ve spoken to Carole just to send my love and we talked about Kate given what’s going on.

“There’s lots going on in the family moment. So she’s spinning a lot of plates right now, it’s quite stressful.

“So the last thing I’m going to do is bring any stress to them.”
